In no particular order this is a quick recap of 2025
Bargained and Ratified one of the most successful Collective agreements in 4540 history. Over 50% of our member received wage advancements along side pay increases of 3% & 3%. Ratified with over 94% voting yes.
MAJOR VICTORY in the creed exemption arbitration case of Gabriel V – 4 years of Arbitrated hearings to reach victory. This spanned 3 presidents.
Unvaccinated Covid cases. We cleared up 13 unvaccinated individual grievances – grievances filed in late 2021.
Took on as a sub-local Granite Ridge and increased our membership to over 1100.
Updated our Bylaws
4 days of Bargaining on new collective agreement with Granite Ridge, hit a stalemate and sent to interest Arbitration in September 2026
We are still the highest paid RPN in any hospital in Eastern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area.
Attended OCHU annual convention in Deer Hurst
Attended Cupe National convention in Toronto.
Attended rallies at City Hall – Zoning changes to prevent us for rallies outside hospitals and in Huntsville during the First Ministers Meeting.
Begun Pay Equity 1st time in over 20 years.
We are taking at least 3 grievances to Arbitration, we will not accept no from the hospital when it impacts our members. We fight on your behalf.
First General Membership information session at Granite Ridge on October 22nd really great turnout.
Bargaining Survey and Meet the Union in December was a major success – around 250 surveys filled out so far. Lunch bags given out – positive feed back from everyone.
General membership Meetings are now hybrid on line and in person.
We nominated 3 new executive members in June. Our executive is now full for the first time in over a decade.
We have filed over 100 grievances this year on our members behalf.
We organized HOOPP information sessions – very successful and attended by not only Cupe members but other employees at the hospital.
Attended legal conference on AI in October.
It was a great year, proud of the executive for all their amazing hard work. Thank you for your support and looking forward to making a difference in 2026 and beyond.
